About the Artist

Bud Lowe graduated from the University of Washington School of Art with emphasis on printmaking under professor Glen Alps. He pursued printmaking for several years with exhibits in several galleries in the Seattle are and served as president of The Northwest Printmakers and juror for local and regional printmaking competitions. During a five-decade career in advertising he continued his art as an avocation, switching from printmaking to watercolors, then began to devote most of his time to that medium. His work has been accepted by major regional juried watercolor shows and purchased for private collections throughout the country.

He says that painting gives him pleasure and satisfaction, an appreciation for struggling artists and a sense of fulfillment of his creative bent. He believes that realism is an essential part of good art, hence is interest in highly representational paintings of places he has visited. He feels the highest compliment he can receive is for someone to purchase one of his paintings for a place in their home. That is his primary goal.

He lives in Seattle with often-as-possible escapes with his wife to their waterfront hideaway on Marrowstone Island and with too infrequent visits Tuscany and Provence, favorite places that have provided inspiration and subject matter for much of his work.
